Museo dell'Opera di Santa Croce, Florence (day 11)

15-April-2002 (Monday): Now having been in Florence, I can see why the film Room With a View was set here. It is a wonderful city, rich in history and brimming with fine food and drink. A good place to get lost.

I visited most of the expected places, leaving a few for next time. Reputedly, the best gelato in Italy can be found in Florence, at Vivoli... but they're closed for now, so I'm afraid you'll have to wait for my review.

The Museo Dell'Opera Di Santa Croce (courtyard pictured above) is housed adjacent to the massive church of Santa Croce in Cappella dei Pazzi. This building is an excellent example of the early Renaissance, built by Brunelleschi in the 1440's. There's another "The Last Supper" fresoe, this one by Taddeo Gaddi which seemed in better repair than that other one in Milan...

Don't forget there are random pictures from my cutting room floor posted to the bonus directory at random intervals...
