Milan's Galleria (ohmygod!) (day 13)
17-April-2002 (Wednesday):
This is the main entrance to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which makes a fine border to Piazza Duomo. The triumph arch welcomes visitors into the galleria, which consists of a beautifully covered street lined with shops and restaraunts, connecting Piazza Duomo to Piazza della Scala. Yes, the galleria is essentially a shopping mall, however this "galleria" is a bit older than the one in Sherman Oaks... The concept was borrowed from Paris and London by Giuseppe Mengono and construction ended along with the nineteenth cetury.
