Right Tower, Milano Castello Sforzesco (day 18)

22-April-2002 (Monday): This famous castle was built in 1450 by the Duke of Milan, Francesco Sforza. He basically took an existing tower, renovated it, and built a castle around it (complete with mote). My understanding is the castle was abandoned by the Duke and turned over the the military when the French were attacking Milan.

Also today, I decided to go to the town of Gorgonzola. It turns out, there's really not much there, and the town closes early... in any case, I found a very nice (open) restaurant and had quite possibly the best Gnochi Gorgonzola I've ever tasted.

I'm leaving for Venice tomorrow, and don't anticipate being able to update this site until after the weekend... stay tuned!

Coming soon: Venice!
